They were popular until the NHTSA did a study that these cars could easily lose control. They were also, according to Wikipedia, recalled alot. Consumers, obviously didn't like this so that's why the X-body cars were replaced by the L, A, and N bodies. |

That is true. They also fell apart rather fast, too?? (Though you do see Skylarks,Phoenixs & Omegas....just seldom Citations, which were the best selling??) |

The one pictured here seems to be in quite good shape for its age and reputation. |

Around where I live you don't see too many X-cars anymore. I see about the same amount of Citations (4-door hatchbacks... I've only seen a 2-door once), Skylarks, and Omegas. The only time I've seen a Phoenix was in a junk yard. I would guess that the Chevy was the best seller since Chevy has always been GM's best selling division. -- Last edit: 2007-09-09 19:11:49 |

Here in Quebec, X cars sold quite well. The most commonly seen ones are the Buick Skylarks but all of them are getting rare now! All X cars either had the Pontiac 2.5L 4 cylinder engine or the Chevy 2.8 V6. My favourite X body model was this early eighties Citation 4 door hatchback equipped with the same rallye wheels and trim rings as the car pictured. My uncle had one just like this one and I really liked how it looked. My aunt had a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix at the same time that she sent to the junkyard in 1988. The floors were completely rusted out, the transmission had issues and the 2.8 V6 engine suffered from blow-by. There were some serious water infiltrations due to rust out on the windshield posts on that eight years old car! The interior of her Pontiac looked nicer than the Citation's interior with it's nice instrument panel and stainless trim in the door panels. But outside, I liked the Citation much more. |

I see a decent amount of the Citation's and Skylark's around in my area, unfortunately there are hardly any Phoenix's and Omega's left, I never really saw very many of the Phoenix's and the Omega's to begin with. |
