HHR xxxE was early 1967, so a four cylinder but too early for Autumn 67 1600 GT. So 1800 or 1500, or possibly the short-lived 1650 (Lawrence-tuned version of 1500, according to wiki 32 made, all with sunroof). wiki suggests the 1800 sold badly so a stockpile built up and it was replaced in late 66 by the 1500. So 1500 seems best choice, though 1800 and 1650 (if sunroof) can't be excluded. xHR was Wiltshire series, so Swindon factory plate likely. |

I think it has a sunroof ..... so maybe 1650 GT is justified as a factory product placement. Solved one character of the plate as HHR xx5E with the x's being some mix of 9,8,6 and 5. |

I had it as HHR 855E, which sadly is no longer found presumably because something happened to the plate before the computerisation point in the early 80s. Would not be surprised if there was an old magazine feature on the 1650GT or a brochure that could solve this question by having a big picture of this exact car on it. ![]() |
