It seems, that these times are gone. Until some years ago, there were many quite old cars on the Norwegian roads -as in other Scandinavian countries, too-, compared with Middle European countries.
But nowadays there are masses of E-shit-clunkers there, but this seems the only difference.

Maybe I'm wrong with my impressions, I only got from IMCDb and the short stay in Oslo (with Lateef as tour guide :))

 Remember this was just after the restrictions were cancelled in 1960. Before that, you had to have a specific need before you could apply for a car, e.g. if you were a doctor or mail carrier. Only about 3-4% of the applications were approved.

In the late 50's, at the end of the rationing period, cars from Eastern Europe were mostly allowed anyway.

Around 20 years ago, introducing the biannual inspections and a raised scrapping refund (for a short time) took care of the old cars.

:wow: Didn't know that!
Sure, that due WWII there were restrictions to get a car and its registration in many (all?) European countries but I did't know, that in Norway these restrictions stayed up to 1960.
In West Germany they ended at the 20.June 1948, when the D-Mark was introduced.
