I don't know if Jonathan Ross (who is in the driver's seat) has an E-Type in real life, although one of his cars is a Morgan: Link to "www.dailymail.co.uk" (but don't bother reading the article written by those twats at the Daily Mail, they're probably just jealous) |

Can anyone verify why they think this is a replica? I'm curious to know. And if so, does anyone know if it is a JPR Wildcat or a Challenger and have anymore info on this car? Alot of wildcat's have a sill running straight across from bonnet to door - leaving a distinct 'line' for one of a better word this of which is absent on the real E Type and also the Challenger replica, but looking at the photo, it doesn't appear that this car has that. Some Wilcats are also wider at the back and front, but I can't tell from the angle of the photo. -- Last edit: 2012-04-03 21:44:03 |

I'm pretty certain this is a JPR Wildcat and not a Challenger. A chap who my dad is in contact with told him of a Wildcat (through an owner) which was featured in a film (though I assume it was a TV series) that had Jonathan Ross and another celebrity in it. I believe this is the same Wildcat that is for sale on pistonheads.com: the sill is has it should be, complete with the correct side indicated lights (which are mostly often found below the bumpers on a Wildcat). A real bargain for such a fine example. I wonder what made them choose a replica or this particular version as opposed to a real E-Type? it's certainly the closest Wildcat I've seen matching the look of a real E-Type. |

From what I can gather of this replica, and the one featured in the series Mutual Friends, is that both no. plates used on those those cars are real but are from a different e type entirely, likely a Challenger, which explains the confusion. The e type shown in Mutual Friends clearly bears a resemblance to a JPR Wildcat, for instance, the rear looks wider, rear bumpers don't wrapp all the way around, the petrol cap is above the boot (most Wildcats appear to have been made that way) and not to the side. Door handles look identical to ones used on the Wildcat and look quite different to ones on the Challenger and original e types. The reg number does appear to belong to a Challenger, but its not the same car in Mutual Friends (and likely Extras too) as they look too different. |

Hey all, I should be able to clear up any queries on this car as I built it and still know ever but and bolt. Yes it's a JPR wildcat with a rover V8 but also has tons of mods and tons of series 1 parts. You can't see the interior but is almost identical to series 1. The body lines down the side were filled in and painted. Rear boot hinges hidden etc. Only give away is the min a petrol cap in the middle. I built the car in 2000 and sold it in 2004 good to see it is still around. I have a full build diary and photos if anyone is interested in doing the same to there JPR. Cya Brendan |
