A hearse with no name. I say it's an Austin FL1. And now I wait for the waves of laughter. And once we all agreed it's something completely different, I will try to find out who did the coachwork. |

Based on Austin FL1, I found RGE 548 which has similar mirrors: https://www.milesfunerals.com/ and is operated by a funeral directors with outlets not a million miles away from the location listed on IMDB. -- Last edit: 2019-08-05 21:50:38 |

Yeah, hearse - not horse! But I also said "waves of laughter", not "Mills & Daughters"... |

There are six in number FL1 hearses already in this database. For instance. /vehicle_72574-Austin-FL1-Hearse-1955.html -- Last edit: 2019-08-05 22:29:44 |

Yes, I know: 4 x Startins, the "too blurry to be far away" one and the Charlesworth. They're all not the one above (maybe except for the one from Blurrington). "RGE 548" is also listed as Startins in my archives, but I no longer trust my judgement from 2004. I *think* we have a Woodall Nicholson here, but I'm playing for time. Edit: Wait - no anti-FL1 protests so far? OK, then... -- Last edit: 2019-08-05 22:43:00 |

RGE 548 (a 1956 car) looks a good call - lots of matching detail - mirror on screen pillar, sunroof(!!) over cab, scattered shiny grille bars, possibly the grille cap. An FL1 Hearse really is The Final Taxi. |

Oh, I'm almost sure this is RGE 548! (I didn't make that clear in my first post) But I still can't decide what coachbuilder made the conversion... By the way: It's not a sunroof, just a leather pad on the roof. |

RGE was a Glasgow series. Any chance of Scottish Co-op????? |

Good one, dsl! SCWS hadn't crossed my mind, but now that you mention them and compared to the 1946 Rolls-Royce below - it's a perfect match. |

It's All At Your Co-op Now!. For what?? |
◊ 2019-10-02 23:16 |
To stop the passengers banging their heads. |

I beg your pardon, sir! *eyebrow* To stop floral decorations and wreaths from scratching the roof. Oh, and also for the traditional appearance. |

What's wrong with a bit of Heads Down No Nonsense Mindless Boogie - sometimes you just need to let it all out. |

Hope this kind of thing is still around when it's my time, I'm not going out in the back of a feckin' Volvo! |

@the sad biker While I sincerely hope this will only be of interest in the very distant future, I'm sure Rev. Paul Sinclair and his team definitely have no feckin' Volvos in their fleet: http://motorcyclefunerals.com I'm not kidding here! We recently lost a fellow hearse enthusiast and the German equivalent https://www.jg-motorradbestattungen.de would have been an option, but they managed to drive him home with his own Miller-Meteor Cadillac instead. |

I'm not too bothered about a biker funeral (I think they're a bit naff) but a Miller-Meteor and Dead Flowers by the Stones would be perfect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YRdxHHFKvQ And yes, no plans to go anywhere soon. -- Last edit: 2019-10-03 15:11:43 |
