Looks like a 1976-79 Dodge Aspen but I don't think they made convertibles? |
◊ 2019-08-13 10:18 |
They did not, it's a custom-made convertible |

“California Custom”? https://www.oddimotive.com/california-custom-dodge-aspen/ Certainly not the best looking convertible out there.. |

^ Very well spotted, screw! As mentioned in "Dodge Aspen and Plymouth Volare: An American Car Story by Tony Dzik", 25 Plymouth Volare and 25 Dodge Aspen 'California Custom' were built in 1977. They were coupes with heavily padded rooftops and blanked out quarter windows. This one appears to be the first one on the site. |

Seems like they managed to make the original car much worse with that badly designed cap full of blindspots. |

good thing there was only 50 of them... ( ok, its probably 49 too much... ) |

why would anyone invest in a cheap car to convert into convertible ? surelly there ar emuch betetr things out there |
◊ 2019-08-14 20:44 |
that's what is worse, its not even a convertible |

I can think of worse examples, which didn't increase the appealing factor of the original car: Link to "www.aronline.co.uk" I hope dsl will not see this comment |

It's OK - life's too short to have strong feelings about Marinas. They happened, and that's about as far as it goes for me. But Mumford had a few good moments |

at least you can get the top down |

Because the convertible were dying breed at that time. The last factory made convertible was made in 1976 for Cadillac Eldorado. |

Life's too short to have strong feelings about cars you don't like anyway, but that's just me. If you can't find your pleasure in stuff someone else enjoys or at least finds interesting - what's the issue? I could have 600 pages worth of comments already by just commenting on all the vehicles I dislike with a passion and yes, I do that on occasion, but... just for the sake of it isn't reason enough IMHO. Moving on, way too much doom and gloom out there anyway... To me and various fellow IMCDb members it's an excitement beyond belief to find rarities and abominations like the one above and while you don't particularly research them in order to get feedback, you sometimes wonder just how long it takes for the next one to become nothing but the butt of jokes - despite knowing damn well your taste is considered bad taste by the majority anway. Disclaimer: Your official spoilsport for today has just finished writing an orbituary for a fellow hearse enthusiast, who was the incarnate "you can't live a cool life with a negative mind". What if he was right? I certainly don't mean to upset anyone, but sometimes it's a bit tiring, you know. |

If anyone's interested in Mumford Marinas, we might have one in the background here. |

Who was it that described them as the Wurzels with A levels? |

Just don't tell ingo .... |
