Not necessarily. 599 units of Audi 100s were built in Shanghai between 1986-1987, which were built with the old doorhandles. This has a shanghai licence plate with a slightly higher number (about 8000 numbers, i consider that small for a city as big as shanghai) compared to the car on the Shanghai-Audi brochure. Before any edits, I shall consult Erik van Ingen Schenau and will come back with the result. |

Alright, we got a response from Erik: "Hi, the green plate is an ordinary Audi 100CC assembled in Shanghai." The cars were assembled by Shanghai VW, so dunno, i guess Shanghai Audi would be how we list these? They only built these, and then further production of audis in shanghai was picked up in 2021. Same goes for /vehicle_1286917-Audi-100-Typ-44-1986.html (its the same car) -- Last edit: 2024-04-08 21:08:53 |

@antp/walter. Not sure how we want to address these. |

I made a quick research about these a couple of weeks ago: /vehicle_1856667-FAW-Audi-100-Typ-44-1989.html They were built by Shanghai-VW yes, but I'm not sure if Shanghai-Audi was a brand too. |

I don't know if all these locally-assembled cars really need a separate make, especially if there isn't any specific badge on them. Or were they explicitly advertised as "Shanghai-Audi"? |
