Gravel deflectors are a nice identification feature if you know the variations. 1) All convertibles had bright guards, regardless of series. 2) All Champions other than convertibles had black rubber guards except for Customs, which had no guards at all. 3) All Commander Regals had rubber guards. State Commanders and Land Cruisers had bright ones. I hope that clarifies the way Studebaker handled this feature.
