1) A lot of cars of this era looked quite the same but had different engines, tens and twelves or four or six cylinders under very similar sheet steel. In these cases a view of the plate can sometimes be the only way to work out exactly what you are looking at. 2) If this database aspires to becoming a serious document of record, then it is up to all of those contributing to provide the best information available, in order to provide an accurate identification of the subject vehicle. |

@johnfromstaffs 1933 comes from the plate, which is APU54 and is visible in another shot in which the plate was readable but the car not enough clear for a main pic. The current main pic is not cut. Perhaps the management needs to revue its modus operandi then, if it wishes to promote accuracy. As you can see from above, it took less than three minutes to obtain an accurate identification once the number plate became available, granted, the linked picture was on the first page I looked at. The comments are simply locked until the pictures have been reviewed by an admin, so it may take a while for the person to return, possibly after a nap, and post extra views. The only time you get instant thumbnails is an admin's contribution. |

Unfortunately we can not read minds, so when the poster adds info, like "1933", but is unable to make a comment why, we can either delete the info or take their word that there is a reason for that. So when I validated this pic, I assumed that Alex had a reason, which he did. Unfortunately he didn't come back to the board until about a day later, which make sense, as I'm 5 or 6 hours behind him and he was probably sleeping or working when I validated. The validation list has been long the past week or so. It took me all day to almost clear it and it's already filling up again. As far as ID's, we try our best but we don't know every single detail of every single model from every country in the world. I have never been offered admin rights, a suggestion was made privately that such offer had been discussed, but I did not take the understanding from what was said that this constituted an offer. Had I realised that, a polite letter thanking the admin team for its kindness, but declining the offer would have been the result. However, I am always here to help if necessary, in an informal rôle. Thanks also for the insight into what the process requires. |
