There was an export diesel for taxi use, following on from the similar Oxford package - "With no more than 37 or 40 hp on offer depending on the source, performance was often lethargic; 3,870 diesels were built between 1977 and 1980." from wiki. Doesn't mean this has to be a diesel, but it's possible. |

A recent article on the British Leyland Chronicles Facebook page gives some info about Malaysian and Singaporean Marina taxis. They were Diesels, locally assembled by Wearne's from CKD kits, and were unpopular, especially in Singapore, because the weight of the engine led to steering and suspension problems, and excessive tyre wear. A comment mentions the first Malaysian Diesel Marina was registered in mid 1973.
