This scene was the reenactment of Carroll Shelby and his British co-driver, Roy Salvadori competing in the 27th 24 Hours of Le Mans at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, Pays de la Loire, France from the 20th to 21st June 1959. In the race, Shelby and Salvadori were racing for the Aston Martin David Brown Racing Department in the No. 5 DBR1/300 with French driver, Maurice Trintignant and his Belgian co-driver, Paul Frère racing in the No. 6 DBR1/300. Shelby and Salvadori won the race with 323 laps with Trintignant and Frère coming in second with 322 laps. The 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours was the second Le Mans 24 Hours race that Shelby took part and the first to win one, at his first Le Mans 24 Hours from the 12th to 13th June 1954, Shelby drove for the Aston Martin Lagonda in the No. 22 DB3S with Frère as his co-driver, both Shelby and Frère failed to finished the race with front axle problems 11 hours into the race with 74 laps completed. -- Last edit: 2021-12-04 15:38:58 |
