Was this a midsized car? Looks about the size of the U.S. version Gallant. -- Last edit: 2007-10-19 04:54:34 |

It slotted between the Galant (the good-looking generation that came before the current, chunky one) and the Lancer in Europe. I believe the chassis is to a large extent unique, shared with Volvo's first-gen S/V40, a shortened version was used by the Space Star mini MPV and evolved into the underpinnings of the current Colt and the retired Smart ForFour (all vehicles mentioned made by NedCar in the Netherlands, i.e. former DAF factory now controlled by Mitsu, with Colt also made in Japan). By the end of its life, it was more compact-sized and marketed accordingly. The chassis was also used by Proton for their Wira/Impian, also initially marketed as a midsize car but now regarded more as a compact. |
