Three Weidner Condor are shown - a Weidner-triple, so to speak! (couldn't resist... ) Quite a lot, considering that a restored one is estimated around $ 800.000,- The following two are currently located 20 km from AnimatronixX central, awaiting their restoration by someone who has the reputation of not being afraid of anything - but still it may take another while until we will see one of these back on the road. The car was developed by Hans Trippel (of Amphicar fame) as Trippel SK 10, seen below. Then farming machines manufacturer Weidner stepped in and started a small-series production. Ambulance manufacturer BINZ provided the plastic car bodies. Between 15 and 200 units were completed before the production ended in December 1958 after 20 months. |

According Wiki this /vehicle_1327686-Weidner-70-S-1957.html specific Weidner was saved ("a scrapyard in Munich", so most likely this one, and a direct result of this movie), but the brown/red one on your pics looks much more rotten than this one, which was saved only a short time after the time of filming -- Last edit: 2020-01-22 00:18:19 |

The yellow Weidner is said to be in original condition and changed locations a couple of times: Formerly Kleinwagenmuseum Bockenem, then Raffay/ Hamburg, now PS Speicher, Einbeck. The green and red ones were not in Germany for a long time. At some point they appeared near Backnang, were later sold to a collector named Weidner and subsequently brought to their current location, as seen above. The Wikipedia article mentions all these cars. We now have four different Weidner coupes on the site and the "scrapyard in Munich" one's whereabouts are currently unknown. |
