It looks like a “demobbed” Pioneer. Can’t see the quantity of back axles, should be a 6 x 6, unless it’s had the chop. -- Last edit: 2020-02-08 22:04:20 |

It's a single rear axle, so 4x4. Here's a gallery from this movie set in a very good quality: http://www.zen171398.zen.co.uk/The_Woman_for_Joe.html Also, someone on flickr mentioned this: -- Last edit: 2020-02-08 22:57:24 |

Shame we don’t get to see the front of the bus, but the quality of the pictures is excellent. Don’t think the bus is an SOS, The Red did not sell very many of its own built vehicles, probably as the prospective buyers were put off by possible spares problems. |

There are a lot of old buses seen but no good frontal views unfortunately. |

County Council of London, commencing 12/31, but apparently only 9001 to 9559 used for commercial vehicles. There is, however, the possibility that showman’s vehicles were not considered as “commercial” for some reason. My view is that the subject vehicle is ex-WD, so it doesn’t compute, but who knows what could have happened to it? Look at the array of tax discs in the windscreen. -- Last edit: 2020-02-09 10:41:02 |

Only about 14.000 ![]() Assuming they used real ones and just changed the livery for the movie, it might be one of them. I don't know if that helps, but it was worth a try. |

Many of these don’t look like this vehicle, having the radiator and style of cab shown in the other example in this film. Much has changed since 1955 when the film was made, and information about Scammell models is not easily dug out. -- Last edit: 2020-02-09 19:29:22 |

This is definitely the 1940 one off 4x4 for the Royal Navy. The only 'coffee pot' 4x4 made AFAIK. |

Thanks for this, it was completely absent from the sites I looked at, and was starting to become an annoyance. I had even tried to google Scammell coffee pot, and found nothing about a 4 x 4. -- Last edit: 2020-02-10 09:08:21 |

I miss typed the date , it was supplied to the Navy in early 1939 for moving heavy coastal guns.( before the war started ) Being doing some research myself and found it interesting , it is rumoured it still exists , probably in a Showmans yard. Pictures below -as originally supplied , in navy service with guns registered RMG627 , on the fairground 1970s still registered RMG627. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-02-10 19:22:01 |

Exciting stuff, JCB! ![]() Not that it helps much, but we could buy another picture if we wanted to. |
