This was hilarious, I was amazed that 6'5" Clarkson fitted into this and could actually drive it. It only weighs 59kg (132 lbs) so he's heavier than the car is, you can just lift one end of this car and pull it around like a suitcase. |

Clarkson loved it too. To be honest you might as well be on a scooter (though it wouldn't have the same novelty value), the only real advantage this has over a scooter would be if it was raining. But I'd probably still rather drive this than a scooter, it looks like such a laugh. |

i'd rather drive a bike or nothing everybody would lugh at you if you were driving that arround ![]() |

Clarkson has driven some funny vehicles in his time, I remember (years ago) he once rode a mechanical elephant. |
◊ 2007-10-29 17:03 |
That is the point of it - it acquires so much comic appeal you can't help but laugh at it ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-10-29 17:03:35 |

You should post a picture of when that double decker passes it, it would be a great size comparison. |

Since 2 background Mercs from this "scene" have been posted (slightly irrelevant), we might as well have the bus listed, because it was shown for size comparison. |

Cool!! |

The front axel looks like it's going to snap. |
◊ 2007-12-14 21:01 |
What front axle? I hope it's got IFS ![]() |
◊ 2007-12-15 18:44 |

wow I'd like to have one of these ![]() |
◊ 2008-06-25 07:44 |
Only about 20 units survive today. They retail between 35,000-50,000 pounds! So for the same price, you could buy a brand new Mercedes... or this. Hmmm.. let me think that over for a minute ![]() |

The Finnish old car magazine, Mobilisti, drove a local exemplar in their newest issue, note the additional blinkers on the roof, said to be from Morris lorry. In the cover it is being dragged to Helsinki metro train. http://www.mobilisti.fi/images/Mobilisti_Kansi.jpg |

http://www.modernmicrocars.co.uk/forsale.html That first picture is of paticular interest. Cos if you look at the numberplates of those two, its the exact same peels that appeared on Top Gear. Does this mean that they were replicas (which should then be added to extra info) and not the real deal? |

dermot muegnehan grabbed the back of the peel because it has NO reverse gear, and spun it round the wrong way. |
◊ 2011-04-16 05:35 |
The engine was probably made by Cuisinart. |

Hmm probably no, like other cases :S |
◊ 2011-10-09 01:05 |
Which "other cases" ![]() I have to add Isle of Man flag to the list, I know, but it is still somewhat linked to UK (i.e. not 100% independent) |
Gomselmash11 ◊ 2011-10-09 01:07 |
The Mercosur flag. You never add this flag. I trying to submit a vehicle developed by Argentina and Brazil FF.AA. and not have the Mercosur flag, because its not correct add any of two flags. |
◊ 2011-10-09 01:12 |
It is just a commercial agreement between countries, not a country in itself... There are many cases where there is not just one country, later it will be possible to have two countries for a car, but for now just live with it ![]() |
Gomselmash11 ◊ 2011-10-09 01:21 |
/vehicle_439396-Gaucho-2004.html See. http://www.cocheargentino.com.ar/g/gaucho.htm you can understand me? are necessary for this car another flag, not the argentinian or the brazilian. Ok? because one of the two ins't not correct. Origen: Argentina-Brasil |

then put none ![]() (and wait for possibility to put two, in the future) We have that problem for UK/DE for several cars -- Last edit: 2011-10-10 16:22:20 |
Gomselmash11 ◊ 2011-10-10 16:45 |
You'll save a problem with the flag of Mercosur (in the case of the Gaucho). And maybe it is correct to use the flag of the European Union for the Escort. But well, it's just "subjective" ![]() |
◊ 2011-10-10 16:46 |
The EU flag is much more global, and didn't exist at the time of some of the concerned models... |
◊ 2012-04-24 03:00 |
it's still being made but with a CVT which has reverse and it also comes in electric which has no cvt but 1 gear |
◊ 2013-06-30 07:08 |
Its engine is made by DKW, 49cc 4.2HP air cooled, transmission is 3 speed manual, it has no reverse gear. |
◊ 2024-11-13 16:17 |
How was Clarkson able to drive it indoors? We saw how much pollution it was belching out, and he even commented that made it liable for congestion charges. |
