Gamer ◊ 2023-03-24 17:27	A contract to build the "Man of high pleasure" in China was signed between FAW and VW in November 1990. Production was supposed to commence in August 1991, beginning with 2000 cars with the luxurious GL bumpers (listed as Golf CL in the brochure despite this) but nothing came of it. VW feared that the Golf would a massively expensive and luxurious competitor to FAW's Xiali, and four months later, the first Jetta rolled off the line.
