Could this be a 1978 Ford LTL 9000? Not sure... |

It's an LTL-9000 indeed. WP says that this front face was given "in 1978". But is that year given as calendar year, or as model year? |

don't know.. but i'd recognize that face anywhere... ( saw it very closely once.. ) if wiki is right , they said the blue Ford oval came out in 1985 -- Last edit: 2020-03-17 05:53:10 |

The blue oval came in 1985, but for the rest of the truck line. What WP says about the LTL-9000: The problem is that this brochure, said to be a 1978 one, shows the "old look" for the LTL-9000 (cover and first available page). So we have an unsourced info in WP and a brochure without visible date in autopaper.com, for 1978. But this 1979 Canadian brochure and this 1979 US truck shop manual, both with a clear mention of the model year, has an "old style" LTL-9000 on the cover. For now, I found no document showing a 1980/1981 LTL-9000, and the first "new style" trucks that appear are in this 1982 "What's new: 1982" leaflet (but the concerned pages are about technics, not style) and on the last page of the 1982 F-Series brochure. Searching gives sometimes more questionings than answers... The investigation continues ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-03-18 09:15:40 |
