See the door handles, it's one of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morattab https://www.business-live.co.uk/manufacturing/not-end-road-classic-land-7839722 |

It might be a Morattab Herour, which has a Defender-style front. https://en.morattabkhodro.com/#herour https://morattabkhodro.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/heror.jpg However, the car in the film has opening flaps under the windscreen, unlike the Pazhan and the Herour. The Morattab models also have indicators on the front wing, which it does not have. Perhaps it is a mongrel with a mixture of Morattab and Defender body parts. -- Last edit: 2020-04-07 20:14:36 |

Agree Morattab, and according to my Landie book a complicated story. After L-R and Santana fell out in 1980s, Santana carried on production because they owned the tooling, despite not having confirmed licencing permissions and started producing their own variations and pursuing new independent markets until switching to Suzuki in 1993. Morattab had been building CKD Santana Series IVs for a few years and then bought the full Santana tooling set to start their own production in 1995 of SIVs in both 88" and 109", using a Hyundai 1.8 petrol engine. In 1999 there was a big revamp (Hyundai 2.4 petrol, coil spring suspension) and the Pazhan 2400 name. Another revamp in 2004 bought a new (Mitsubishi-based) Hyundai 3 litre V6 as the Pazhan 3000 in LWB crew cab and Station Wagon versions, including lots of bright colours and the new black door handles. Then in 2014, V6 and Station Wagon production ended, with the Pazhan relaunched as the Herour, only as a crew cab with a Hyundai 2.8 turbo-diesel 4 cyl, which lasted until 2016 and the end of all production. My book is fairly clear that there was no official L-R link for any of this Iranian phase - it was all based on the Santana-bootleg and their own independent path after 95 - but does say that Iranian owners liked to dress up their Morattabs with L-R badges and accessories to capture the full Solihull experience. I'm guessing this explains the badges here, and with the big sidelights it might be a 2014+ Herour. |
