When these cars are being exported, these headlights are fitted in to meet their local regulation, JCB.

For example here we have sealed beam headlights.

I have seen pictures of Volkswagen Sedan 'Beetle' shipped without headlights at West Germany :sun:

It's odd though - it's only the TR4s which are blind - all the BMC, Rootes, and Jags have lights, as do the Triumph Vitesse and Herald. What was special about TR4 lights?? As Lucas provided lights for pretty well everything made in UK in the 60s, the TR4 lights would be just as suitable/unsuitable for CDN as all the others??

If they were destined, maybe indirectly, for USA, weren’t there some pretty specific requirements for 7” units? I always thought that the Lucas 700 was a very good design, providing a good spread of light and being reasonably long lasting. Before anyone comes up with old whiskery Lucas jokes, one of my contacts at Hemmings tells me that Delco and Autolite were no better or worse in the day.
