Far left is a 1962 Sedan de Ville. Busy right now, so I can't check the others right now, but there's no way nobody created a complete list of all the cars buried in all those years?!? https://www.texasmonthly.com/travel/forty-years-of-the-cadillac-ranch/ |

The oldest one, furthest right, is a 1949 Series 61 Club Coupe. It had the saddest story of the cars used. The "artists" bought it from a guy who had performed an amateur restoration for it, and wanted $700 for it. They decided that was too much, but he wouldn't come down from the price, so they decided to "teach him a lesson" by smashing up the front of the car with sledge hammers in front of him after completing the deal, knowing that the front would be under ground, so it wouldn't matter to their installation. The smashed-up front can be seen in the article above. |

The story tells : "they choose ten Cadillac beetween 1949 and 1964" - a Cadillac Coupe de Ville 1959 - a Cadillac 1954 - a Sedan DeVille 1960 here, some historical picture and info : Link to "www.artsy.net" Link to "www.oldcarsweekly.com" https://www.texasmonthly.com/travel/forty-years-of-the-cadillac-ranch/ at the beginning it seemed like a kind of joke : with this seed story; they wanted to make a parody with the cars (?) true or not it’s funny -- Last edit: 2020-05-15 23:43:20 |
