Looked at the episode online and think this is the plate... VAUXHALL MONARO V8 VXR 2007 Registration number: VE56TDO Body type: Coupe Colour: Red Date of first registration: January 2007 -- Last edit: 2020-05-26 00:37:32 |

Production ended in 2006. Does the UK use the model year system or build date system? 2007 would be impossible, unless it refers to a model year. For example, in Australia, a 2006-built Monaro that was sold in January 2007, would still be a 2006 model. There's no such thing as a 2007 Monaro here. -- Last edit: 2020-05-26 14:32:01 |

It's a difficult question. Model years are often used internally by manufacturers in press releases etc to define revisions but the public perception of a car's age is based around a registration plate, so if this Monaro sat around for another year before getting registered and was on a 57/08 plate people would probably call it a 2008. But for our purposes as a reference resource we like to have model years or build years so we'd ignore that public consideration really. Found this quote about UK Monaros online: If VE56TDO came down the line in early 2006 or before, I don't think it's right to call it a 2007. Interesting that it's a late reg example of a discontinued model, though, as the VE plate makes me think it was a Vauxhall fleet car on loan to the show for advertising purposes (I suppose it's better for Vauxhall's image than an Astra or Vectra being used!). I think they also had a VXR8 on this show at one point too. There are even later Monaros out there: ![]() VE07VZY = May 2007. |
