By the lack of overriders I guess it's a Custom sedan [73B]. |

This is a 1954 Mercury but a Monterey sedan not a Custom .The round Monterey medallion on the front fenders is visible on the left side of the picture. It is not true to say that Custom models had no " Dagmar" bullet shaped bumper overriders .Both the Custom and the Monterey series had them , but on this particular car they have been removed :one can still see the fixation points .So to summarize 1954 Mercury Monterey ( 73 C) |

The swedish law not accepted "dagmar" . Thats why the cars expoted to sweden, not fitted with "dagmar" or sharp ornaments.... |

So this is a 'made for Sweden'. |

They were assembled in Stockholm, so it´s even "Made in Sweden" The hood ornaments were mounted from the beginning, but a law prohibited them so they had to be removed. I don´t recall what year the law came though. |

I think in most west European countries those sharp hood ornaments were prohibited since 1959... |

I own two Mercury 1954, not made in sweden, but made for sweden, A Monterey foor door and a sun valley... Both cars have a special front bumper.. The part between the lower and the upper buper is special, a substitute for the "dagmar" has fomoco partnumber as well! |
