I think it's a Thorneycroft Nubian, but which mark or what date I don't know.(Any ex-RAF types here?) I'd say it's another anachronism, like the 80" Land-Rover ... -- Last edit: 2007-11-19 21:06:43 |

early 1950s Thornycroft Nubian 4x4 DP1 dual purpose fire/crash tender...it was, in RAF use, allways used in tandem with the Alvis Salamander pictured elsewhere..Nubian had a 700 Gal. water tank, basic truck chassis and some bodywork supplied by Thornycroft, fire fighting equipment by Foamite..in military service it was known as FV13403, also sold commercially for civil fire brigades. -- Last edit: 2007-11-20 15:37:35 |
