HK-favourite platform on cabin roof. Pretty well every UK-origin truck in HK seems to have them, but very rarely - if ever - used to carry things. So why did they have them ..... |

The usual use for these cab roof platforms is to store the folded or rolled up tarpaulins when the truck is unladen, or the load does not require sheeting. You do not then need to place the tarps on the ground or in the cab when loading say bricks, and there may be slightly less chance of them being nicked or forgotten. Also, wet tarps of the size needed are heavy, the effort needed is consequently less if they can remain at the approximate height of the top of the load when being removed and remain ready subsequently to be replaced over the next load.
