DBU 673 = Jan 47, Oldham, so 1800. |

But it's got 2000 headlight lenses and the exhaust (i.e the exhaust is located on the right side , not visible in the thumbs, but the puff of smoke was coming from the right side of the car). Is the plate really correct? - exhaust on the right - 1800 - 2000 -- Last edit: 2020-09-19 17:06:44 |

I don't really know which claimed differences between 1800 and 2000 are really solid - the headlights are often mentioned but may not be 100% all the time; the exhaust is one I haven't seen before. Plate looks authentic - DBU was April 46 to May 47 with first issue in 47 being 625, so unless there's witchcraft it can't stretch to Oct 48 2000 arrival. Digging into book photos, other changes may be the 1800 had speedo on right with other dial on left, which was reversed for 2000 (so this looks 2000) and a comment that only the 1800 had gear change on right of steering column - can you see how she changes gear?? But this is confusing for online examples eg here which have a sodding great lever on the right. But this one might be more useful with a lever of some sort on the left. So it's messy, and I'm not going to thump the table either way here. |

More confusion and chaos across these examples - beyond my powers to explain all the permutations against the captions. And here's an 1800 with speedo on left. |

We'll need to get a detective in |

Unfortunately no. She was busy trying to run over a detective, therefore selecting a correct gear wasn't in her mind. |

^ What about the alleged feminine claims of gender superiority because they can multi-task?? |

I’ve asked rfs and she can’t remember which side the ports are on the Triumph 1800 cylinder head (Weslake designed). The Vanguard engine had all inlet and exhaust ports on the right hand side looking from the back of the engine compartment. Also, I’ve commented before about attribution of permanence to things that are easily changed, like headlamp glasses. -- Last edit: 2020-09-19 22:00:48 |

What side is the exhaust on a 1 1/2 litre Jaguar? http://vandp.net/sales/1863/1938-ss-1-1-2-litre-jaguar-saloon/ On the right looking forward. BTW the lever nearest the camera in the picture of the roadster’s office is NOT a gear lever, that’s on the right. Undoubtedly: - 1) 1800 had a four speed column change to the right of the steering column, à la 1800 saloon. 2) 2000 had Vanguard gearbox, three speed floor change in the centre, unless some were built using the old Triumph transmission. The “Bergerac” car has a floor change. -- Last edit: 2020-09-19 22:45:51 |
