If people in 1998 could have only known what a non-rusty one of these would bring today... |

Distinctive paint job indicates this is one of the Volkswagens converted by Landmark of California in the late '70s (most surviving examples seem to date from 1978). It was very expensive when new, and not a big seller: https://www.oldbug.com/bluelandmark.htm https://www.oldbug.com/brownlandmark.htm https://www.oldbug.com/landmark.htm Landmark typically worked on American vans, but apparently they tested the market for Volkswagens in response to the gas crisis. Which makes it even rarer than a typical Westfalia, and even more tragic. There may be fewer than a dozen left today. Is this a pop-top? The survivors all appear to have the standard roof height. |
