Is it right-hand drive? |

Yes, with entrance door behind front axle. Some buses were too old to be rebuilt completely when we turned to right-hand traffic in 1967, and remained in traffic like this a few years. Mostly in low traffic periods or non-heavy lines. The destinations on the bus shows that it was in service on Lidingö just outside Stockholm. |

So were some buses converted to left hand drive? |

A large part of the buses were converted, depending on age and wear. Some were bought by the commision for right-hand traffic and sent to developing countries as aid, and some were just scrapped after september 67. There was an extra tax on vehicle taxes between 1964-67 to pay for the change from left-hand driving to right. Traffic signs, new buses, converted buses and all the campaigning etc. There was a variety of solutions on buses during the years before the change, doors on both sides, doors that was made easy to move to the other side. During the last year some cities made special bus stops on a few lines that were adapted for new right-handtraffic buses so they could put them to traffic earlier than september 67. |
