There was no "R3" variant of the Sherman. There were many different types of Sherman flamethrowers, this may be an M42B3, it's too hard to tell.

From this footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdPE4vgy4cU taken by the Marines on Iwo Jima
There were many different versions of flamethrower Sherman. The fact that this one has a welded hull and is being used by the Marines should make it a POA-CWS-H5, but those had the flamethrower mounted beside the main cannon, and this one clearly has it mounted in place of. The POA-CWS-H1 used that arrangement, but those were all built on M4 Composite hulls, so the front of the hull would be rounded like on the M4A1. Or at least that's what I thought. It turns out there were eight POA-CWS-H1's built for the Marine Corps using the M4A3 chassis.

The name then should be M4 A3 POA-CWS-H1
