oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh first T5-R on the site ![]() ![]() indeed very rare car - made in 1995 only due to homologization for BTCC series. Volvo 850 was very succesful there, interestingly in Estate version. They must made a serie of at least 1000 cars for road, so they decided to make a T5-R. It bases on standard 225 BHP 850 T5 but with overboost that will bring it to 240 BHP for 30 seconds. (Italian versions less). There were 2500 pieces worldwide (including sedan and estates) in this significant bright yellow. The cars were huge success and were quickly sold out, so Volvo decided to make another serie of 2500 black ones and then 500 green ones. So complete production was only 5500 pieces, which makes it one of the rarest Volvos. Of course the yellow one is the most desired and most valued one now. In 1996 Volvo released 850 R - with 250 BHP available always as a succesor of T5-R series. Any more pictures BeanBandit please please please? ![]() P.S.: this one has not the original 17" Titan wheels, but 16" Colomba from T5 (possibility, that it is not true T5-R, just a replica) - therefor better pictures might help (interior shots for example) -- Last edit: 2008-01-07 00:13:35 |

I see what I can do...I think there was a scene where you can see the interior. O.K., now there's some more. -- Last edit: 2008-01-07 14:24:12 |

the seats seems to be ok (with alcantara), so I presume it is a true T5-R |

@ atom Nope, the colour is called 'Cream Yellow' and was exclusively for the T5-R and nowadays very rare to find on a (good and original) T5-R. |

Perhaps Volvo didn't call it T-Yellow but that's what most people in Sweden refers to when talking about the yellow T5-R. Was also available in white (only 2 or 3 vehicles). |

Color looks good to me, but I bet the of all the 850s, yellow was chosen the least. |

to bring some information about the colors... T5-R was available in only 3 colors - yellow, black and olive green. No other. At first, Volvo made 2500 yellow cars, then after those were sold out, 2500 black ones and then 500 green ones. Therefor together was only 5500 T5-Rs ever made. On contrary 850 R (1996) was available in more colors - red, black, anthracite grey, olive green, turquoise and very few white ones. Production numbers are unknown. Every other color on T5-R or R is a fake. |

These things was suprisingly common in Finland at 90's. Maybe because our taxing was favoring "low displacement engines" in leasing cars, it just was way more cheaper to own 2.3l T5-R, than a BMW 530i V8 or something like that with bigger engine. No matter how much HP's you got, all that matters (when talking about taxes) was Ci's, not power that car produces...Like in Italy, also in Finland taxing was much more softer to cars with displacement under 2 litres. |
