The AA launcher in the background is a Thomson-CSF Crotale R440 system, which consists of two parts: a launching vehicle with 4 missiles and a short-range tracking radar mounted on a P4R 4x4 chassis, and a second P4R (the one on the right) carrying a long-range surveillance radar. In French service, the Crotale has also been mounted on ships and AMX-30 tanks. big photos here: http://kr.blog.yahoo.com/shinecommerce/9903.html?p=1&t=3 |

Thomson-CSF also produced the P4R (or P-4 R) vehicle in the former Hotchkiss works. Delivery of the Crotale system to the French Army started in 1978, possibly even before. -- Last edit: 2008-01-12 01:18:39 |
