Wiki - The Ford Fiesta is a supermini marketed by Ford since 1976 over seven generations. It has been manufactured in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Taiwan, China, India, Thailand, and South Africa. In 2008, the sixth generation Fiesta (Mark VI) was introduced worldwide, making it the first Fiesta model to be sold in the United States of America since the Fiesta Mark I was discontinued at the end of 1980. |

Ford didn't have a FWD car, so they imported the Fiesta to compete with the Rabbit and Civic, which were selling well. Once they introduced the North American Escort, they didn't need the Fiesta anymore. |

It did ok, nothing spectacular. At the time, the currency rate did not favor Europe, so the Fiestas were a little pricy compared to the Japanese offerings. Ford still had the Pinto, which was cheaper. So the Escort replaced both. |
