The lighter colored car is not a Crown Victoria, it is a 1980 LTD-S model. They are often used by movie studios in place of the more costly Crown Victorias, because they are anywhere from 20%-30% lower in price/value. The S model LTDs were advertised as a "budget" or "economy" model, without the power windows and power seats. To make an LTD-S look like a Crown Victoria for film or television, often the front grill is replaced with the 4-headlight LTD option, and front doors are replaced to eliminate the obvious "wing window" on the cheaper models without power windows, or power windows can be selectively requested by customers from the dealership without the full "Crown Victoria" package. The window on the rear pillar is unique to the 1980 LTD-S and base "LTD Sedan", but the base sedan has a very different front end shape and rear end/tail lights. |

The light colored car to the right is not a Ford LTD or S or Crown Victoria or any Panther platform car. It is the 1979 Ford Fairmont that is has its own page. The roofline features the extra quarter window that is not found on LTDs of any type. The front corners without marker lights as well as the goofy little mirrors and exposed windshield wipers further identify it as a Fairmont. |
