Plate looks like WLP 316 We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided AUSTIN FX4 TAXI UNKNOWN 1959 Registration number: WLP316 Body type: Taxi Colour: Black Date of first registration: April 1959 Claimed to be the earliest surviving/running FX4 and seen before, although sometimes there's plate mischief. This looks genuine original use, as no sidelights. |

Probably for quality, but not the same FX4 and WLT 690G does not seem to be a real plate, so can't really date this newer example. I think we're better off sticking with the 1959 WLP 316 because it's a definite known FX4 with some significance. |
