I'm thinking 36 Pontiac (35 Oldsmobiles have suicide doors and 36 Oldsmobiles have different hood vents). |

Probably a 36-37 Six, then. The annual taxation system here mitigated against multi-cylinder engines, and then there was the cost of petrol…… I see boot bustles on many US cars of that date, however, so I did wonder if this was a Big Six Vauxhall, but probably not. -- Last edit: 2021-07-27 12:25:05 |

The only issue I'm having is the position of the headlights - it looks more like a 35 Pontiac in that regard, however a 35 Pontiac would also have ribbed fenders and suicide doors. Other than the headlights, it's a pretty good match. |

The British versions of 30s American cars frequently did not exactly match what was sold at home. For the reasons above, we had smaller bore engines, and usually the deluxe specification coachwork on the poverty spec chassis. By the 50s the majority of them had gone, or were provincial taxis, our local garage had a Packard 120, which my dad drove a couple of times. -- Last edit: 2021-07-27 12:41:41 |
