It looks like a 1970+ Mini 850 |

Agree that's what it looks like, with pre-76 (UK date) rear lights. But all sorts of strange mash-ups happened in ZA - my Mini bible lists these in detail (eg a 67-69 Wolseley 1000 - ordinary Mk2 with a Hornet front; 69-71 Mini Mk3 - ordinary Mk3 front but with the ex-Hornet rear wings and boot - there was even a planned version with the ex-Hornet rear and the Clubman front but it was pulled before production) without being specific about what normal Minis were offered in early 1970s. The normal (round front) version seems to have been called Mini Deluxe; ZA dropped all 848cc builds in 1965, switching them all to 998cc (which was a world first for Minis anywhere), and then in 1974 to 1098cc, with a picture looking like a typical plain Mini 850 with small hubcaps, but an added coachline. So my best guess is to call this 1970 Mini 1000 Deluxe. |
