It is important enough for that? The movie does not seem to be based on this car, when I read its summary... |

http://img93.echo.cx/img93/639/thelastrun2aj.jpg Hallo antp, i know the film. It is a Roadmovie and consists of two leading actors and this car drove by George C. Scott. The film is comparable with Vanishing Point (Dodge Challenger RT by Barry Newman) http://www.sd455.com/movielastrun.htm Car and Roadmovies: http://www.sd455.com/movie.htm -- Last edit: 2006-03-17 22:50:42 |

I saw this movie a few years ago (10?) and it also has an interesting Spanish built Dodge 3700GT? in it as well. |

Just recently saw this movie on Speed Channel (doubt it would be played on other networks). I was really impressed! I have never seen an old BMW used so much in a movie. Truly excellent. Awesome, real sounds of engine (no cheap sound dubbing of other vehicle). George C. Scott really drives this BMW 503 hard. Winding the engine near red-line, aggressive cornering etc. I'm so glad they didn't use some common/generic Mercedes, like most movies do when in Europe. |

I haven't seen "The Last Run", but I wonder if it was used more or less than in the BMW 325 "The Chase" -- Last edit: 2006-03-15 17:04:13 |

To answer your question "antp": This BMW 503 is probably not used nearly as much as the BMW 325is in "The Chase". But let me clarify...when I say "old BMW", I mean OLD. I don't consider an E36 old - I really don't. I own an E28 `84 533i (limited production) - that's old. Or anything over 15 years atleast. Watch this movie ("The Last Run"). You'll see what I mean. They actually drive this 503 like it should be driven. The movie "The Chase" is pathetic in comparison. These are genuine scenes with this 503 - you can hear the real sounds of the car, being driven very hard - read my previous comment, and read my comment on "The Chase", on other page. |

I did not see the "old" in your message |

Seen it 3 times on various TV channels. 503 probably the best looking BMW ever made (to me anyway). Comes to a sticky end in the movie, and I couldn't help hoping they'd faked that bit.... |

It seems that two 503 were used for filming. One is supposed to have been left in Portugal. |

The original car is back in Germany. Found on a scrapyard around London. You can find the documentation in German classic car magazine "Motor Klassik" under Link to "www.motor-klassik.de" |

Scott is constantly tuning the car as he feels his life depends on it. If I recall, it also has an after market supercharger fitted to it. Car´s the star. |

Here you can hear the legendary story of how the car was finally preserved. It doesn't come from the 2 series but was changed from steering wheel gearshift to stick gearshift to include the overdrive. https://fb503.de/the-last-run-wen-die-meute-hetzt/ |

Interesting! Great to see it's alive and well! |

Magazine comment that the film suggests a supercharger was fitted, which can apparently be heard whining in some scenes. But it was a dummy for filming, not a real unit. |
