We have one big mess with Transit's generations. 2000 models are listed as Mk IV or Mk V These post 1995 Transits as Mk III and Mk IV. -- Last edit: 2008-02-13 18:20:05 |

Yes, as I said on another page recently, I do not know what numbering system was used for the Transit here Someone who has lots of time should clean that (using a more reliable mk-list) -- Last edit: 2008-02-12 23:19:32 |

We cant rely on wikipedia because it is a mess as well, depending on which language you search it there are several writings saying different things. -- Last edit: 2008-02-12 23:43:38 |

That's probably the reason why we have errors here: I remember having used either EN or DE version of Wikipedia at a time to add mk to missing vehicles, but these changed on Wikipedia since then -- Last edit: 2008-02-12 23:35:02 |

According to English Wikipedia in Germany they count a 'Taunus Transits' as first generation, but it is not our problem as even German members don't do that here. /vehicle_53983-Ford-Transit.html The problem is with 1986+ vehicles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Transit I propose system which is actually the most popular on the site (so there won't be many changes): '66-'78 = Mk I '78-'86 = Mk II '86-'95 = Mk III '95-'00 = Mk IV '00-'06 = Mk V '06- = and here I have some doubts is it still Mk V or Mk VI... -- Last edit: 2008-02-13 18:45:42 |

If '95-'00 isn't the same generation as previous and the main change there was shape of grille, so the same should be done with Mk V and Mk VI. But in my opinion facelifts are not generation changing. |
