Let's be frank, dhill_cb7: what do these plate infos you're posting add more than Alex_DJ shorter ones? We're having tons of 'double' comments which give us unnecessary too-detailed infos recently. I don't want to be the one who complains all the time, and don't want to stop anyone posting anything either, but guys, please let me know if we're going to be some kind of Department of Motor Vehicles rather than the original Internet Movie Cars Database. |

Alex's comments are from the part site. The build sheet is what I posted. The build sheet posts the manufacture date and the trim level among other details. Both details are absent from Alex's part site. Just confirming the entered year and the trim level. I thought by cookie cutting the build sheet I might omit details, especially from vehicles I am not familiar with, that could make the entry more complete. We have admins rogue editing entries without comment, users posting useless comments, barely visible entries submitted, and my build sheets are an issue? Not sure why I am being singled out here... |

Your build sheet can be useful when we don't have the plate checked yet, but when we already have even some basic infos posted, such as build construction/registration date, engine size, trim level and VIN (and we're already in a deep level with that to me) that's enough. Other stuff just make the 'See all coments' scrolling unpleasant if you ask me. |

I understand. I guess I will hang up the cleats and move on as I know other admins do not particularly like me either. I'm sure Sandie, dsl, nightcub, lateef and maybe a few other feel the same way and would rather not have me around. I feel like I cause too many issues here on the site. I think I will be reaching out to antp to have my account terminated and all comments deleted as done with kegare. That will 'make scrolling pleasant' for you and other admins. All I try to do is have an efficient database as there isn't another like this on the net. We have so much information to offer. I also never attack or scrutinize any other admins or their work either on this site. I am always seen as a trouble maker and ruffling feathers of other admins. |

Do you really think there are no other ways to accept people advice but taking such drastic decisions? Neither do I. But what if you're noticing just a general vehicle infos upheaval? There are less intrusive ways to make a site great anyway. -- Last edit: 2022-01-18 21:39:15 |

No, I don't feel that way. I feel you add to the site and don't want to see you leave, but I think all Walter is asking is that if somebody has already added pertinent information, it doesn't need to be added again. |
◊ 2022-01-18 21:47 |
Not true in my case. The database needs people with enthusiasm to keep it going - if we lose people who make the effort and are constructive contributors, we're failing. My view on adding information is to try to add extra data where it adds something useful to what may already be there. Duplicating records can provide additional info from different info fields to give a firm ID, so if carefully handled is legitimate. But as walter is suggesting, there is a point beyond which too much info overwhelms the page. The key is to decide what is useful or interesting, and abandon the remainder. Suggest this discussion resumes in the admin forum if there are issues to resolve. |

I'm nobody to tell anyone to leave. I've already told you that your accuracy is appreciated here, just don't go too far. That's it. |

There is a vacancy on the awkward squad if you wish to join me. |

Not sure why I was brought into this, it's not a question of people leaving or causing problems, it's about us all finding good ways of working together to generate a good, accurate, user-friendly database. And what's the harm of constructive feedback and suggestions? Maybe it would be better to post a comment giving some of the important info in a condensed format? I hear you, there is too much stuff here that is allowed to continue out of control, which is why I've lost interest in the site largely. -- Last edit: 2022-01-18 23:09:26 |

No, that's not true at all. I think it's good that we have someone that invests so much time and effort into this. I feel a bit selfish for saying this, but I couldn't care less about all the apparent superfluous text walls of information, as I am only here on the site to indulge in my niche interest of 1930s-1960s cars that I share with the likes of s13a and Gongora. Everything other than that is a bit ... boring. I like to populate the site with cars that few other contributors seem to care about. I spend a lot of time on my own contributions and when I'm not, I'm identifying cars that I'm interested and knowledgeable about. Sometimes I help out with editing and validating contributions and I feel like this is the part I'm the most altruistic about. When someone reach out to me personally for assistance with identification/plate reading I will always help out with the task at hand save a minimal amount of exceptions. I can't be bothered with everything else that goes on as I'll just end up having a breakdown similar to the one I had in December 2017. Well, enough about me for now and maybe for the rest of the year - you just keep on doing what you're doing and you're good at dhill, I think you're doing a great job of which the majority of us are reluctant or don't have the time to do. Of course I understand (and to some extent agree) with walter that a bit of moderation would be welcome from time to time. |

I disagree, especially since I'm writing a story set after the era you like. Arsenic & Old Lace is without question my favorite classic movie there's no contest, I feel like others are a bit drab in the plot, hook, filming locations, lacking more raw feelings and actions. Everything is a bit too clean and "perfect" looking without the grittiness. North by Northwest with the house on the top of Mount Rushmore which was just a matte painting is an interesting location as an exception. I like how classic cars from the era you like are used in a subtle way like Laura Palmer driving one in Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me and the rest of the cars are more recent when filming or the Muntz Jet in Toys. When all the cars are 'classic' in the era you like it's less interesting to me because I feel like there's less that can really stand out. |

Maybe a good compromise would be to add these info to Alex_DJ's existing comments? So that would solve the issue of having too many comments for that. And if you want to distinguish his original post from the additional info, it could be added inside a quote block, like when you quote someone else's comment. The comment would become something like: ---------------------- DV327TB FIAT BRAVO II (198_) 1.6 D Multijet (88Kw) Anno immatriculazione : 2/7/2009 VIN : ZFA19800004213147 Codice motore : 198A2000 ---------------------- -- Last edit: 2022-01-19 11:37:11 |

@walter I am sorry for my outburst. I did not mean to offend or upset you. I believe antp has nailed this one. If there is a comment with the info I can edit that comment and quote myself to show what I have added. I will also only post relevant data; i.e. manufacture date & trim level to either confirm to deny what is existent in the extra information. I tend to have a problem with over reacting and being dramatic. First step is admitting you have a problem. I know in years past I would succumb to alcohol and recreational drugs to hide my problems; sober from alcohol since 10/15/21 & sober from marijuana 2/7/21. @other admins sorry to rope anyone else into this. Thank you all for supporting me and making me feel wanted. I appreciate everything you all and the site has to offer. @Antp thanks for talking me off the ledge on the forum hypothetically speaking. |

No offense taken, and I hope not even you. Glad to hear this from you, just try to accept suggestions and advice in order to not post duplicate infos or not to waste vehicle infos already put (e.g. don't delete the engine size/trims got from plates/rear badges by the contributor which can't be seen clearly in the current picture). |
