I know there was a misconception about the rear tire indicating EX trim well this is true and false. 1998-1999 EX have the rear tire mounted on the tail gate. 1998-1999 LX have the rear tire mounted underneath the SUV OR on the tail gate (optioned). 2000-2002 EX have the rear tire mounted underneath the SUV. 2000-2002 LX have the rear tire mounted on the tail gate. All EX have body colored mirrors & door handles (tail gate handle too). All LX have black mirrors & door handles (tail gate handle too). Rear privacy glass (tint) is only offered on the EX.
