Yes, a 1953 Special |

Why not 1954? It has panorama windscreen |

Rear bumper is 54. 53 Special had a bar over the license plate. I still agree with the model 41D. Has the reverse-angled A-pillar and no window trim between the drip mouldings (above and below the windows). 54: http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/2006/11/01/hmn_buyers_guide1.html 53: http://www.bcautos.com/classicars/1953_buick.html -- Last edit: 2008-02-17 09:12:35 |

Can't see it too well here, but the 1954 fins rose an inch or so right over the tail lamps, like a more subtle version of the Pontiac styling. This means the topmost tail lamp is set below the fin tip instead of being right at the tip as with the 1953 cars. Below the tail lamps, the fin slants rearward, also not a part of the '53. Side trim visible is for '54. -- Last edit: 2008-02-17 09:17:53 |

It is not a 1953 but a 1954 Buick Special 4 door sedan ( 41-D) |

I was wrong, it's not a 1953 and not a Special either! It's a 1954 Super Riviera 4dr or Roadmaster Riviera 4dr. Look at the position of the door handles and the back-up lights... |

I see what you mean about the door handles, they are set into the lower window trim. I also see the backup lights that are below the rear decklid, instead of being part of the decklid as Special/Century. Very useful, philr! -- Last edit: 2008-02-17 18:18:53 |
