VIN sheet returns a 1.9 TD |

I believe that plate check is wrong and this is a "TD SX", as, according to this December 1995 price list, there wasn't the S trim combined with the Turbodiesel engine nor the SX with naturally aspirated engine, unless things were different for official Taxi versions (don't think though) |

But wheels are of the S version Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" Here seems that the 1.9 TD in S trim was available for only one year until December 1995, so this must be one of the latest ones |

Indeed, curiously this was built a month after the price list I posted -- Last edit: 2021-10-08 21:36:20 |

Strange who is more trustworthy? I think the VIN, since we already saw some wrong description from apps/site (just yesterday the Uno 45 i.e.), even if we got also some opinable results from VINs (like the Uno of a few days ago), but I believe they are rarer. |

Why not?? As comparison in UK at roughly same time, the Skoda Octavia was very popular minicab with non-turbo SD engine, mainly supplied through trade agencies rather than public showrooms. I don't have any detail, but I think there was a choice of trim levels offered. Same thing may have happened here a few years later with Kia Ceed estates, and more recently some Seats and more Skodas, all of which had episodes of dominating minicab fleets in bursts. |

Yes, I think I changed my mind since then I wasn't really aware of a separate Taxi version until they started to appear in VINs, so I believe there could have been different permutations for official cabs. I even read someone referring to a number of Tempra 1.1 (built for several export markets, not sold in Italy) destined to taxi use in Turin, but no proof this actually happened. |

A recipe for Greece?? |

Yes and IIRC Portugal and Czech Republic. |

Or maybe a legend as like the one of the Lancia Thema 1.6? |
◊ 2022-06-17 20:46 |
If I remember well the thing with the Octavia wasn't them being non-turbo, but them actually being the previous generation model: /vehicle_1497086-Skoda-Octavia-Tour-Typ-1U-2007.html |
◊ 2022-06-17 20:48 |
I think the Tempra was found in some price list or similar, and appears in several parts sites, the Thema 1.6 was a totally unproven urban myth |
◊ 2022-06-17 20:49 |
Wasn't the Octavia SDI regularly sold in UK? |
◊ 2022-06-17 20:51 |
Yes indeed. I believe there is a similar myth about the Dedra with naturally aspired diesel, which appears often in spare parts databases (as like the Thema 1.6) -- Last edit: 2022-06-17 20:54:19 |

Exactly. There are also a few others the Thema 1.6 was said to have been given in use to some Fiat/Lancia managers in 1984/85, but AFAIK is totally unproven and, besides some appearances in part lists, there is no trace of it. Now I'm thinking I mixed up Tempra 1.1 and Regata 1.1 (60) because I can't find nothing concrete about the Tempra nor the page I mentioned, and the taxi anecdote was probably referred to the Regata 60, which was indeed sold in Greece and reported on Wikipedia -- Last edit: 2022-06-17 21:12:05 |

Yeah it was, so it wasn't unique to the taxi market, the "Tour" versions were though. |
◊ 2022-06-17 22:05 |
It was listed. But with only 68 bhp, its desirability did not hit buttons for normal car buyers. |
◊ 2022-06-17 22:52 |
Here it's mentioned: https://sizemywheels.com/pcd/fiat/tempra I believe to have seen something on some Czech site some time ago, but not really sure About the Regata 60, I was sure we found one here on the site but I couldn't find it back for now |
◊ 2022-06-17 23:12 |
I don't remember any here anyway the Regata 60 was confirmed, I think I even saw one on a spotting page. The Tempra was mentioned also on an Italian forum, but can't find the page for now.. Edit: Link to "www.autopareri.com" Link to "www.autopareri.com" found the forum posts, but the link (on a Polish site) isn't active anymore, so nothing more concrete -- Last edit: 2022-06-17 23:20:30 |
