This name seems to have persisted on brochure covers until at least 1952, while also being referred to as a 'Sedan' within the brochure itself...
Maybe it was a marketing strategy, using Sedan to appeal to domestic Japanese buyers while also using Light Car to attract US servicemen and other foreign nationals stationed in Japan at the time.
This brochure of the 1951 PB Sedan clearly appears to have an English-speaking target audience in mind. Or maybe it was just an attempt to make an obsolete car (pre-war engineering, post-war styling) appear fancy to Japanese buyers...

 I was really doubting about this issue ... But I have noticed that in all the catalogs in which "Light car" actually appears on the cover, it does not refer to a car itself, but to a range of sedans, pick-ups and light trucks, that is to say of displacement, size and light weight.

I think this expression was widely used in Japan in the 1950s to separate these more private cars from heavy duty trucks, which had the highest production load in post-war Japan. Interestingly, "Light Car" was the title of the Nissan magazine during the 50s in which they talked about Datsun sedans, wagons and trucks. In conclusion, the name of these cars is PA sedan or PA sedan

 Indeed, it would unify the light cars as "sedan" and the light trucks as "trucks". Could you do it Lateef? I am not an administrator

 @gongora any admin can do it however with larger changes there is a thread on the forum where antp (owner) can do the changes in one fell swoop. Here is the thread you can post changes that you find in for antp to wave his wand and make changes: Link to "imcdb.opencommunity.be"

 Already done, it only concerned 3 entries - for such a small amount it's better to do it manually.

Lateef: and the 2 Ohta Light Truck? I think its better to put only "truck"
