Not 1983,but 1978-1980(they aren't totally-built by Fiat,coming from Brazil;900cc.had engine fit in Italy,1050 cc.had engine fitted in Brazil)

These were sold in Sweden between 1980-86. Licenseplate begins with an L so it wasn´t registered earlier than fall of -82, it could be a 1983-85 model.

Could plate be not original/first immatriculation? This front was made in 1978-80 as DatsunZ said (so 127 Fiorino), in 1983 there was already the last facelift of the first generation with 127 Unificata front (just Fiorino).

Don't know how it was with Sweden, but they did strange things with these cars. By what I remember there is British brochure from the mid 80s, with car with this front end and large 5-strips Fiat grille decoration...

Yes, 1981-82 front (this one: Link to "upload.wikimedia.org") was only for Diesel, then 1983 "unified" front was for all range: https://www.flickr.com/photos/65005481@N06/49450827926

Edit: no, we have a 1982 one with Brazilian front but 1050 petrol by badge.. /v265210.html

It seems that somewhere in 1982 the Brazilian front replaced the 127 one on petrol version, and probably not simultaneously in every market. So, if a petrol one, the above example could be a leftover of previous range..

Back to the fact that for example UK DIDN'T get the new, "unified" front Fiorinos (by what is to see in their brochure from the mid-80s and even another one from the 1987) - it enlightened me yesterday, later :sun: I bet, simply at this time in Brazil they didn't make Fiorinos with steering wheel on the right! ;) But as UK still had old car with 1st type of front end (only with new badging), then it means it still had to be produced in Italy in 1982 and later... Only for LHT markets? It's still a bit strange anyway.

I really didn't know that, very interesting :king: so, UK got Fiorino with this 127 front (or a similar one) until the second generation? Seems logical that, if Brazil didn't build RHD examples, those were supplied by Italy, but it's very difficult to find this information and indeed would be quite strange (but wouldn't surprise me at this point :D )..

I can't contribute anything much - I've got Fiorino listing until at least July 85 (where my book runs out), and I remember vans with this front (as main) being around for a few years. I don't remember ever seeing one of the 83+ unified front - bleuuurgh - it's an ugly thing even its mother would be ashamed of - nor the squared off Brazilian front. Not concrete statements that they never happened here, but they both look very unfamiliar.

Thank you :) so it seems you were indeed spared the unified/Unificata front. Don't think we have any UK Fiorino post-83 listed?

I'm thinking that for some reason also Sweden didn't got at least the Brazilian front, so the 127 front/Italian built models sticked around for more time that previously thought..

Done some more digging and seems I was not on the ball. UK got the facelift in May 85 with what looks like the squared front/5-stripes grille in the tiny pictire. Which matches this "Fiat Fiorino Van 1985-1987 UK Market Sales Brochure" picture found on ebay and this "1987 Fiat Fiorino Sales Folder - UK Market".

This is the 83 UK brochure and the unhelpful 84 UK leaflet.

Then at some point 88/89 we seem to have got Uno front version. At least we don't seem to have ever had that ugly one with the big grey bumpers.

Thanks for the research :) it seems that you got indeed only the original 127 front end (Italian built) and then directly the Uno CS based one (MY1988 in Europe, built only in Brazil). Never seen the (1985-87 it seems) front end with the 5 bars! I'll add that to the many 127/Fiorino fronts list :D
So, consequently, you didn't get Diesel versions until the second generation, right?

Fairly sure we did not have diesels before the May 85 facelift, and I don't think we did 86-88 either but not absolutely sure. English wiki says [from 1982] "For right-hand drive markets, the Fiorino kept the original 127 underpinnings and design. These cars were available only as vans, with either a flat roof or with the "Hi-Top" roof and were built by Bertone, who was also assembling the X1/9 and the Ritmo Cabriolet for Fiat. The 127-series Fiorino received a light facelift in 1985, including Fiat's five-bar grille, the Ducato's wing mirrors, and a five-speed manual transmission. Production ended in late 1987, still using the original sheetmetal with quarterlights in the front doors." - which seems to match the brochure trail.

So if RHD builds were outsourced to Bertone, presumably no-one wanted to change things too much, so they stayed 127-based. Apart from UK, likely RHD markets could have included Ireland, Malta, Cyprus to keep a gentle production trickle.

I understand ;) I'm thinking the English page got some modification recently?* Don't think was so clear when I checked it some time ago, when still was there (Lamborghini factory at) Bologna among production facilities (which instead built the 127 Rustica from Brazilian CKDs)..really interesting anyway

*indeed there are many modifications listed in recent weeks and the page has been updated
