Can anyone explain what the roof numbering system means?? This one plus all 3 suggestions look as if they have 19 on the front of the roof - is that a generic or a specific number?? Comparing all 4 cars, they share - where visible - poverty wheel covers, white mirrors, white front side lights and side indicators, and none have fogs. The only difference I've spotted is the black lower grille on the Emmerdale sighting, which is not a major item and easily replaced if damaged. The 2 pints of lager etc sighting gives a genuine plate - T779 JLD - and spec as a March 1999 1.4 16v Envoy, MOT expired on 30 October 2020, with a mileage in April 2019 of 122,462 miles. At minimum, I think we have a group of 1999-ish Envoys, and I'm happy with the idea they're all sightings of T779 JLD. Any other sightings we can add to the pile?? |

What is the reasoning behind the addition of “Police” in the naming of so many vehicles? To me it just looks like guesswork. Do we know, for certain, whether these are genuine or just any old white vehicle and some Fablon and a light bar? Would the evidence satisfy a court of law? Are the people in the vehicle policeman or just acting the part? Is the vehicle merely set dressing? -- Last edit: 2022-02-25 09:08:32 |

^ It helps pull them out as a group of same/similar examples for easier/quicker comparison. Agreed there's no guarantee they're real or just dress-ups, but getting a batch together to zip through collectively can mean the fakes can be highlighted. |

Thanks. Fair enough reason, as long as people don’t think that U.K. is full of police specials. In my experience, by the time they get sold off, they’re usually knackered anyway. |

Demos do get used sometimes. Oddly a Met Ford Police Transit that still seemed to be service was in Trigger Point |

I agree with this, but in this specific example the spec and trim corresponds to an ex-police vehicle unless it's been substantially interferred with, after about the 1st year or so this design of rims were only on vans and police vehicles. This one is at least mid-99 on as all the trim is body coloured. |
