Daimler grille. With dents, in fact, the whole thing looks a bit of a dog. Double-Six??

Early wheels without perforations and rear lights (reflectors within reversers, so before Feb 71 and too early for D6.

I wondered if it would be a 2.8, which was rare in a Sovereign and aimed at countries like I with tax bands. Even rarer is to find one of these still running - the 2.8 had a tendency to spontaneously blow up, so many died young.

2792cc is the capacity of Ford (D) V6. Only 1cc out. The Jag engine was not strong, as dsl says, and some cars had 4.2s fitted instead. There does not appear to be anything on the boot lid where you might have expected a badge.

2.8 in Daimler guise were quite rare, and the capacity would be 2,792. The engines - as dsl correctly mentions - were prone to burning out pistons. No more economical than a 4.2 version in reality.
