We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided BENTLEY UNKNOWN 1960 Registration number: 213 UYJ Body type: Saloon Colour: Grey Date of first registration: February 1960 BENTLEY S2 SALOON Year: 1960 Chassis no: B29BR Registration: 213 UYJ Sold - £36,960 "This 1960 Bentley S2 Saloon was supplied new by Mann Egerton of Bury St. Edmunds to the Hon. J.P. Philipps of Dalham Hall, Newmarket in Suffolk. Recently it has been the subject to a chassis-up restoration, returning it to near new condition by Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists P.F. @johnfromstaffs _ Why why?? |

Quite simply that the registration plate carries an undated series, of the type you can buy to stick on your car after its more valuable registration has been sold, and it is not possible, convincingly, to tell an S1 from an S2 unless you look under the bonnet. When identifying these cars it is always better to provide some supporting information, as dsl did. You had just made a statement with no support, which was not enough to convince the man on the Clapham omnibus that it was correct. -- Last edit: 2022-02-05 19:19:46 |

@johnfromstaffs - It is obvious as to what the vehicle is. As to whether it is an S1, or an S2 I am not the one who posted it as a 1960 model. Films use fake registration plates all the time. And the information provided by dsl fits the parameters of the above vehicle but whether it is the actual vehicle is unknown. |

No, it isn’t obvious at all. You cannot tell from looking at this picture whether it is an S1 or an S2. dsl has a theory about the overriders, and the chrome on the air vents, both of which can be changed to update the appearance of a 1955 car in a short time, and frequently happen. The same applies to the headlights, the only major changes are those under the bonnet. -- Last edit: 2022-02-06 13:43:46 |
