As far as I can see, it doesn't have any aditional chrome above the front bumper, but chrome at the side strips. That was not common at all. As far as I understand, no 940 had the chrome side strips, but a few GLE versions of the 740 did, MY 1990 or 1991. If it is a more expensive model (which did have the chrome side strips, but also chrome on the front bumper), like the 1988-89 740 GLE or the 1990+ 960, it should also have had alloys and a painted front bumper. Also the 1990-91 740 GLE had alloys, but the studded winter tyres are usually mounted on different rims, which might explain the plastic wheel covers. The answer is that it might indeed be a 740, but if so a 1990-91 GLE version. |
