Both Elfs and Hornets were built locally, although confusing arrangements which meant there were separate assembly organisations. However it seems the Wolseley assembler (Booth Poole at Islandbridge works) actually did them both, and then sent unfinished Elfs to the Riley assembler (Brittains - various factories) for completion. Agree this looks like Wolseley rear badge, which makes the colour scheme with white roof unusual - in Britain only Elfs had white roofs. Both Booth Poole and Brittains opened new factories in 1965-66, with hints that this allowed Elf/Hornet builds to start; if so this is likely a Mk2 or perhaps Mk3. |
