Vauxhall Victor FB of 1961-3. In 1965, aged 17, I drove one from the UK to Spain and back. We were six lads- four in the Victor and two in a 'bug- eye' Austin Healey Sprite. The Sprite was for ever overheating and breaking down. I remember spending much time stopping the Vauxhall to wait for the supposed sports car to catch us up. To help the Sprite along, everything was off-loaded from it onto the Vauxhall which then proceded five- up. Eventually one of its rear leaf spring mountings collapsed- but was soon welded up by a garage in Sitges. This was only a 'standard' 1,600cc Victor (a much abused 'company hack' in a rather dull grey colour) but I learned to respect it. For a while my father owned a 1963 Estate Car (Station Wagon) version which was the much smarter Deluxe model and looked better than the saloon with its rather odd 'sloping' boot (trunk) lid. -- Last edit: 2010-03-25 13:47:43 |

Indeed AHJ250 has moved. Shame it was supposedly junked as mentioned above 11 years ago. |
