C'est la voiutre rouge de Lois Lane qui est ecrasée dans la faille de San Andreas lors du tremblement de terre à la fin du film... |

It's either a '71 or '72. |

1972 Ford for sure but not an LTD. More likely a Custom or Galaxie. |

most liklely custom because it looks pretty bottom of the barrel. |

Probably a Custom |

The main pic looks like a galaxie from the chrome strips on the doors. But the thumbnail pics apear to be a customs since the door posts are the same color as the car. |

This was the last year Ford offered the Costum model style. I think there was a similar vehicle used as a police car in "Superman II". |

I agree...I think the first car we see, with Lois interviewing the Native American about why he sold his "worthless" land for such a high price (we find out later it was Lex Luther who bought it), is most likely a Galaxie...with the chrome door posts and edging around the windows. After that, the car seems to "cheapen" somewhat...becoming a baseline Custom, with the plain all-one-color door posts and window edging--in this case red. Obviously more than one Ford was used for this part of the movie. I think the first car (the Galaxie) was used just for Lois' interview...then the cheaper models (Customs) were used for the stunt scenes--the gas station blowing up, Lois screeching all over the road, and ultimately the "earth-swallowing" / burying scene where the Ford is crushed under ground. So, I think the "main" pic should be listed as a Galaxie, whereas the thumbnails that Wampa-One provided are the Custom/s. Also, I'm not really a Ford expert...which one was considered the top of the line...Galaxie or LTD? -- Last edit: 2013-12-16 00:16:58 |

Curiously, the main picture shows that it has the chrome trim on the door windows |

Exactly...that's why I think the main pic is a more upscale model than a Custom. |

For a car that got buried under a bunch of rocks, it looks like it fared pretty well if police car fan's 12th thumb is anything to go by. A modern-day Focus would've be crashed flat. |
